…a small independent company rising from strength to strength with each production they present.
-Theatre Press
Three Fates Theatre Company was founded in Naarm/Melbourne in 2019 by Thalía Dudek, Zoe Hawkins, and Laura McCluskey.
In a world where those in power seek to control the narrative, we are creating a community of brave, bold voices who are willing to tell the stories that disrupt, hold power to account, and light a fire in your belly long after the lights come up.
Three Fates’ debut production, Independence by Lee Blessing, premiered in Melbourne in late 2019 and their first original, Land by Thalía Dudek, swiftly followed, opening in early 2020 to critical acclaim. After the pandemic, Three Fates marked a powerful return to the Australian stage with subsequent 2021 and 2022 seasons which included a combination of originals and stylistically challenging pieces: Analog by Thalía Dudek, Stop/Over by Gary Duggan, and Gundog by Simon Longman.
In 2026, Artistic Directors Thalía Dudek and Zoe Hawkins will take the helm of Three Fates as the company enters its next chapter.
At the heart of our approach is a radical, evolving practice of development and adaptation that produces stories which live at the intersection of art, politics, history, and philosophy.
Our Process
We believe that stories require a collective and active approach. Whether the initial offering is an ancient text, a single scene, or a news story, each Three Fates production is afforded the space to grow and find its final form through a process of workshops and table reads unique to the piece’s needs.
At the heart of our method is a radical practice grounded in deep discussion, interrogation, and fearless play. The beauty of this is that each piece invites in new creatives, experts, academics, and practitioners that leave their mark both on the story itself and on our process as we move forward.
Our Ethos
Three Fates is proud to work with a diverse team of creatives and collaborators. We are fiercely protective of anyone that comes through our doors and will not tolerate any instances of bullying or harassment in any form.
